Tanks the crusades5/5/2023 ![]() ![]() All Rhino and Predator variants are based off of designs originally created during the Dark Age of Technology, using Standard Template Construct (STC) database designs. The Predator Destructor is the most common variant of the Predator used by the Space Marines, and its long-barreled Syrtis Pattern Autocannon main armament, also known as a Predator Cannon, makes it most effective in an anti-infantry role. It is a more heavily armed and armoured version of the Rhino armoured personnel carrier. The Predator Destructor, usually referred to simply as the Predator, is one of the most common main battle tank employed by the Space Marines of the Imperium of Man. The Predator Infernus was fielded in large numbers by the Space Marine Legions during the Great Crusade. The Flamestorm Cannon is a massive, vehicle-sized Flamer. The Deimos Predator Infernus replaces the standard Deimos Predator's turret-mounted Autocannon, known as a Predator Autocannon, with a turret-mounted Flamestorm Cannon. It is unknown if the Mars Pattern Predator can be armed with the same weapon load-outs as the Deimos Predator variant, or even if the Adeptus Mechanicus would allow it if it were possible. As a result, surviving Deimos Predator Executioners are revered as treasured relics that cannot be easily replaced. The Predator Executioner was fielded in large numbers by the Space Marine Legions during the Great Crusade, although by the late 41st Millennium Plasma Weapons technology has nearly been lost to the Imperium. The Plasma Destroyer is a powerful Plasma Weapon that is able to blast apart even the most powerful armour with contemptuous ease. The Deimos Predator Executioner replaces the standard Deimos Predator's turret-mounted Autocannon, known as a Predator Cannon, with a turret-mounted Executioner Pattern Plasma Destroyer. The Deimos Predator's sponson-mounted weaponry can be enclosed in a circular armoured shell, and unlike the equally enclosed sponson weapons of the Mark III Predator, the Deimos Predator's sponson weapons can turn a full 180 degrees, allowing the weapons to be protected from enemy fire and to fire upon enemies that are behind the tank. The vehicle can also remove its sponson weapons entirely, although this is rarely done. The sponson-mounted Heavy Bolters can be replaced with either Heavy Flamers or Lascannons, depending on if the mission calls for close-range fighting or an enemy fielding a large number of armoured vehicles. ![]() The large Chinese tanks were originally intended for a US faction that would have emphasized armor, but this was changed by the final game, which gave China its own tank general and the Crusader to the United States base faction. The Deimos Predator Destructor is the standard pattern of Deimos Predator, and is armed with a turret-mounted Autocannon known as a Predator Cannon and two sponson-mounted Heavy Bolters, one on each side. The early design of crusader resembles the design of the Chinese Overlord tank. Its model and its texture can still be accessed by browsing through the game's files. In some ways, the early design's chassis slightly resembled the Siege tank from the StarCraft series. Much like the Raptor's early design, the Crusader also used a gold skin and completely different tread design. It was likely removed for balancing reasons. Coding of the machine gun is still present in the game codes, being merely commented out instead of removed. The Crusader was originally going to be armed with a coaxial machine gun in addition to its main cannon.Interestingly, this tank combines the resemblance of a real life Leopard 2 & M1 Abrams main battle tanks (further reinforced by the fact that the model's name is 'AVLeopard'). ![]() Therefore, it does not appear in the Generals Challenge outside of several cutscenes. None of the American generals utilize the Crusader. However it is easily countered by anti-tank infantry and aircraft, as well as long-range units such as the GLA's Rocket Buggy, against which it has little defense. This tank retains its usefulness even in late-game matches, being able to go head-on with all other vehicles in its same class. The Crusader has an edge over most other tanks due to its superior armor. Purchasable at any Strategy Center for $1500 ![]() Allowed Crusader, along with all other USA units gain veteran status twice as fast. ![]()
